Five students of Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos are now in police custody for alleged involvement in the death of Sylvester Oromoni.

The 12-year-old Sylvester died last week after being tortured by the students.

Three of the students who the dead boy mentioned at the point of death, visited the State Criminal Investigative Department, in company of their parents.

Later on Tuesday afternoon, two more students and their parents were brought in to explain what they know about the incidents that led to Sylvester’s death.

Three house masters, who were on duty on the day of the torture, are also in police custody.

HOMELAND NEWS gathered that the police have secure a court permit to detain the students for 21 days at the juvenile centre.

Meanwhile, the parents’ forum of Dowen College will on Wednesday, hold a candle light session in memory of Sylvester Omorini at the school premises.

The event was agreed after an online meeting held by some of the parents of the students.

A man who said he had worked as a guidance counsellor at the school for many years told the parents that he resigned after cases of bullying in the school became rampant.

Samuel’s confession sparked outrage as one of the parents could not control her emotion as she queried why the former counsellor waited until a child died before speaking up.

The woman lamented that her son suffered similar treatment in the hands of senior students and could have died like Sylvester.
