BREAKING: Don’t Allow FG take Over NBA or Regulation of Lawyers – NBA President begs BoB Chairman, Olanipekun SAN, in Explosive Letter
The President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Olumide Akpata Esq, has written an explosive letter to the Chairman, Body of Benchers, Chief Wole Olanipekun SAN, stating the strong opposition of the NBA to a proposed amendment of the Legal Practioners Act, LPA, that seeks to hand over the management of NBA to the BoB, a body funded and controlled by the Federal Government.
The letter sighted by BarristerNG dated 20th June 2022 expressed grave concerns of the NBA towards the offending amendments aimed at neutralizing the NBA as a watchdog to the Federal Government and also narrated the NBA president’s effort at removing the offending paragraphing before passing to National Assembly for enacting into Law.
The NBA noted that his efforts is twarted by members of BoB who are bent on neutralizing the NBA. He begged Olanipekun SAN who was a former Presidnet of the NBA not to allow the destruction of NBA by passing the proposed LPA amendment without removing the offending paragraphs.
